Mottos, The Anti-Vaccinator
- Mottos, The Anti-Vaccinator. ca. 1869
Mottos, The Anti-Vaccinator. The Anti Vaccinator was a product of the English anti-vaccination movement and published by Henry Pitman. Eighteen issues appeared in 1869 and then the publication was incorporated into Pitman's The Cooperator. The term inoculation used here refers to the practice of variolation, in which a non-immune person was intentionally exposed to matter from a smallpox sore in order to confer a mild case of the disease and future immunity. It was abandoned after vaccination was introduced. The Historical Medical Library of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia. Scrapbook of Anti-Vaccinations Clippings. 8c242.
