Influenza virus vaccine, monovalent Type A, Asian strain, 5mL. Prepared from the extra-embryonic fluid of the chick embryos and formalin killed. National Drug Company, lot 4494, exp. 2/15/1959. This vaccine was manufactured in response to the Asian influenza pandemic of 1957-58 that resulted in about 70,000 deaths. From a donation by Kitchen, James G., II, MD, Pocono Lake, PA. D. 1998.
