- Adenovirus 3, 4, 7 vaccine, Parke Davis, exp. 9/17/1958
- Description:
The adaption of adenovirus to growth in monkey kidney tissue cultures made possible the production of a vaccine. This trivalent inactivated vaccine and a bivalent inactivated vaccine were used in the U.S. military until 1963, when SV-40 contamination was found and the vaccine discontinued. Live oral vaccines were developed in the 1960s and used in the military until supplies were exhausted in 1999. New AD vaccines were approved in 2011 and are given to U.S. military trainees.
