Description:
Stanley Plotkin observed a rubella epidemic in Europe in the early 1960s. When he returned to the United States, he set up a virology lab to study rubella at the Wistar Institute. The rubella epidemic crossed the ocean and led to widespread disease in the United States in 1964-65.
