Offit 1: Entering Vaccine Research
- Description:
- Paul Offit, MD, describes becoming interested in vaccine research as a pediatric infectious disease fellow at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Stanley Plotkin, MD, who developed the rubella vaccine, was his boss. Offit notes that he was struck by Plotkin's influence on population health, rather than just individual health, and so he was inspired to follow in Plotkin's footsteps. Offit went on to develop a rotavirus vaccine.
