Map showing cholera in Boston 1849. This epidemic ran its course from June 1849 to November 1849. About 700 cases and 611 deaths occurred. One physican wrote "…the cases of cholera were found chiefly among the foreigners, and that they were mostly intemperate subjects. The number of poeple in easy circumstances attacked with the disease was so small that they might almost be overlooked in the history of the epidemic..." --J.H. McCollom, Observations on Cholera, Boston Medical and Surgical Journal, September 22, 1892.
